The Puerto Rico Hobie Cat Association, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2nd Puerto Rico Hobie 16 National Championship. The event will be held in the waters of the Balneario de Isla Verde, Carolina PR adjacent to the Mariott Courtyard Hotel in Isla Verde.

1. RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (except as altered by the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions and/or any Supplemental Sailing Instructions)

1.2 The Rules of the Hobie Class Association, will apply, except as any of these are changed by these Notice of Race and/or by the Sailing Instructions.

1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The event is for boats of the Hobie 16 Class and is open only to invited teams and sailors.

2.2 In order to be eligible to participate, teams must be invited and certified by the Regatta Committee.

2.3 Participants may enter by completing the registration with PRHCA.

2.4 Assignment of boats to a particular fleet rest entirely within the discretion of the Regatta Committee, whose decision shall be final.
      2.4a IDENTIFICATION and ASSIGNMENT OF BOATS

      2.4a(i)   Boats will be identified by bow numbers from 1 to 6.
     
2.4a(ii)  Boats will be allocated by the OA for the stage in accordance with a pre- determined draw.
      2.4a(iii) Boats will be exchanged in accordance with the pairing  list and race schedule.
3. FEES

3.1 $250 Early Registration by Nov 27, 2009.  $300 until December 10th, 2009

3.2 Entry fee includes event registration, boat rental fee, snacks and Saturday’s dinner for competitors.

3.3 A damage deposit in the amount of $250.00 payable by check or cash is due at check in. Should a deposit be forfeited, teams must submit an additional damage deposit before sailing the next race. Unused damage deposits will be returned at the conclusion of the regatta.

4. ADVERTISING

4.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority

5. REGISTRATION

5.1 Participants may enter by completing the Registration via www.hobiecatpuertorico.com or at Registration Event.

7:00pm    Mid-Event-Party (included for competitors additional tickets available at registration)

Sunday, Dec 13, 2009.

10:30am  First Warning Signal. More races to follow.

6:00pm    Awards ceremony

 

6.2 Number of races:

To constitute a series three (3) races must be sailed. A minimum of 4 races should be completed in order to allow one throw out. Multiple races will be run on each day as time and weather conditions permit. No warning signal will be hoisted after 1700 hours on Friday and Saturday and after 1500 on Sunday.

 

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7.1 The sailing instructions will be available at registration time.

8. PRIZES

8.1 Trophies will be awarded up to Fifth place on the Series. Other prizes may be awarded.

8.2 The highest placing team from Puerto Rico will be named National Champion.

9. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

9.1 Competitors agree to be bound by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2009/2012, by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race. Competitors agree to take any and all responsibility for the nautical qualities of their vessels, the rigging, the crew's ability and the safety equipment. Competitors also agree to take any and all responsibility for damages caused to third persons (bodily injury included but not limited thereto) or their belongings, to themselves (bodily injury included but not limited thereto) or to their belongings, ashore and at sea as a consequence of their participation in the regatta, relieving of any responsibility The Puerto Rico Hobie Cat Association and all persons involved in the organization under whatever qualification. Competitors are to be acquainted with ISAF RRS Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone". In any case, competitors agree that The Puerto Rico Hobie Cat Association, the sponsors and their agents, have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others or for the loss of, or damage to any vessel or property. As part of the registration process, each individual participating crewmember will be required to sign a declaration accepting this disclaimer of liability.

8.2 All competitors and their parents/guardians, before end of registration, must sign a waiver.
